My son learns piano and daughter learns guitar from her. She is knowledgeable, kind and patient with the kids. Teaching is not a business for her. When we miss classes, she actually messages us with slots for make up classes instead of the other way around. She maintains a rewarding system with small goodies which is a great motivation for the kids. Only because of her, my son has taken and passed some of the ABRSM exams. She always go that extra mile for her students. We've known her for more than 6 years now and it's been great. Kathryn Dean has been an amazing piano teacher for my son Hunter. He’s been playing since first grade and is now entering seventh grade, so he had experience—but Kathryn helped him connect the dots. She pulled his skills together, especially in reading music and understanding what he was playing, and gave him a solid foundation in music theory. Kathryn teaches privately but also has experience teaching music theory at the college level and elementary school music, and it shows. She’s kind, motivating, and really knows how to connect with students. Hunter actually looks forward to lessons now and is excited about piano again.
